Après l’obtention de son DE de massokinésithérapie en 1979, Philippe Séréni étudie l’ostéopathie, d’abord à la SERE TO (société d’études et de recherche en techniques ostéopathiques), puis à l’IWGS à Paris (institut Walt Garner Sutherland). En 1980, il intègre le bureau de l’ATM (association de thérapie manuelle), association d’étudiants engagés dans la reconnaissance de l’ostéopathie. En 1986, il s’installe en tant qu’ostéopathe exclusif. À partir de 1989, Philippe Séréni participe, avec Jean-Louis Faraut, Michel Fischer, Guy Roulier et Dominique Laufer notamment, à la création du SOK (syndicat des ostéopathes DE en kinésithérapie), premier syndicat professionnel d’ostéopat...
